Ms Chng May Sim is the Co-Founder of two companies: Flexxon Pte Ltd and Flexxon Global Ltd. She is the COO for Flexxon, a company founded in 2007 with a friend. In her daily dealings at Flexxon, a top industrial NAND flash storage solutions provider which specializes in serving Industrial, Medical and Automotive (IMA) application customers, May Sim is responsible for global operations including the overseeing of several headquarters across Asia, and a regional team of sales representatives.
Through May Sim’s incessant work, Flexxon transformed from a small trading company into a worldwide renowned Industrial NAND Solutions provider. In the early phases of the company’s development, the lack of capital meant that the entire business was based in a home-office with only a single staff on payroll. Coming back to the present, Flexxon now has an annual revenue of 100 Million MYR, with the company becoming a top player in the market, competing with global brands such as Kingston, Sandisk, Micron and Toshiba. Still, May Sim’s road to success was not as straightforward as it was planned out to be, especially in a high tech, male-dominated environment. Even from the start, the economic factors kicked in for the worse, with the global financial crisis of 2008 almost instantly dropping the previously steady cash flow. Yet, instead of throwing the towel, the company shifted strategy and focus with May Sim as COO, and within twelve years, registered an exponential growth and expanded from Singapore to USA, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and China.
Through the expansion, May Sim created job opportunities for communities where the company had its presence in Singapore, Malaysia, United States, Shenzhen, Taiwan and Hong Kong, and alongside the 34 Sales Rep & Distributor countries that span across USA, Canada, Europe, Eurasia, Asia Pacific and Africa. Given her deeply rooted social awareness, May Sim implemented financial benefits (Employee Share Options Program) and personal growth opportunities within the company for all her employees.
The best of my professional achievements can be attributed to my strong belief in my own abilities and self-driven attitude towards life. I believe this was the influence and views shared with my schoolmates during our time in PCGS. At the end of each decision as Co-Founder and COO, the school motto of “Decorum, Honesty, Diligence, Simplicity” becomes the universal truth that helps me take the right decision and find my own path to success.
