Dato’ Sonny Ho Kiong Chan is the founder and Managing Director of Belleview Group. He is an acclaimed property developer and visionary entrepreneur, especially in the Northern Region of Malaysia. Under his leadership, Belleview Group has grown and emerged from over 35 years of economic cycle. Be it developing the untested market or rescuing abandoned projects, his unique vision and extraordinary courage created one miracle after another, in accordance with Belleview’s vision of ‘Building Today for Tomorrow’.
With the cooperation of the Belleview team, Sonny’s diverse property portfolio includes low to medium cost, to high-end luxury residential housing, commercial shopping complexes and shop-houses, comprising a total gross development value of approximately RM 8 billion. Meanwhile, he successfully introduced a variety of reputable national and international retailers in his projects, elevating the standard of urban living in the Northern Region. His award-winning Moulmein Rise Luxury Suites & Shoppes is a mixed development boasting 18,000sf of the co-working space, Common Ground, Malaysia’s fastest growing co-working space setup. The Aman Central Shopping Mall in Alor Setar, is a gem of a transformation, of what was once the Plaza Tunku Yaacob, a building abandoned for 30 years. It has since been recognised as Asia Property Award’s Best Retail Development (2017) and International Property Award’s Highly Commended Retail Architecture Award (2015).
Fulfilling corporate social responsibility is Sonny’s compelling business purpose. Among his numerous rescue and rehabilitation projects is the Taman Cemerlang project, a project abandoned for 12 years, which was revived for 1200 aggrieved purchasers. Sonny successfully transformed this eyesore into a prominent mixed development known as All Seasons Place, All Seasons Park and Melody Homes in 2012. In response to the government’s “Home Ownership” campaign, it also brought contemporary living to the residents of the suburb of Air Itam. Beyond business, Sonny focuses on education and social welfare, generously donating to SJK (T) Ladang Alma Bukit Mertajam and SJK (C) Kheng Tean, Penang. As part of community service, Sonny regularly organises blood donation drives, and hosts charity runs with WWF to promote and realise a sustainable environment. Additionally, Sonny contributes to donation drives at local homes and orphanages, to support and care for the underprivileged.
